A 23-year-old Harvard man was arrested on Sunday after police found a stolen revolver and ammunition in his car.
Juan M. Alonzo, 23, of the 700 block of North Lincoln Street in Harvard, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possessing a firearm without a valid FOID, illegal possession of ammunition without a FOID, and possession of a firearm in public, according to jail records.
The Northwest Herald reported that court records show police found a stolen .22-caliber revolver and nine .22-caliber rounds of ammunition in Alonzo’s car on Sunday.
Alonzo is facing three to seven years in prison if he is convicted of possession of a stolen firearm, the Northwest Herald reported.
Alonzo remains held in the McHenry County Jail on a $50,000 bond. He must post $5,000 bail in order to be released.
A public defender was appointed to Alonzo’s case during his court appearance on Monday, the Northwest Herald said. Alonzo is scheduled to appear back in court on December 18.
