An electrical contractor was seriously injured Wednesday morning in a hit-and-run at the Lovell Federal Health Center in North Chicago.

According to a spokesperson for Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago, a 47-year-old private electrical contractor was working with the Great Lakes Naval Base Public Works Department when he was hit by a vehicle around 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, ABC7 reported.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop after hitting him. The spokesperson said that the contractor was working on equipment along the roadway at the intersection of Medal of Honor Drive and Kryzowski Drive near Building 5.

The man was flown by a medical helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in serious condition.

The crash is under investigation by the Lovell Federal Health Care Center Police and the North Chicago Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call 224-610-3703.
