A man and woman are in custody after police said they robbed a TCF Bank in Algonquin on Saturday.

The Algonquin Police Department was called at 3:20 p.m. on Saturday to the TCF Bank inside the Jewel-Osco at 103 South Randall Road in Algonquin for a report of a bank robbery.

Police said that a man with a fake beard demanded money from the bank teller and fled with the cash before being chased and tackled by bystanders.

Members of the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Department were helping collect Salvation Army donations outside the store as the suspect fled and helped the bystanders with detaining the man.

According to police scanner traffic from the incident, the man was injured after being tackled and an ambulance was called to the scene to treat him.

Daniel R. Plushkis, 26, of Crystal Lake, and Jessica E. Plushkis, 28, of Crystal Lake, who are husband and wife, were both charged with burglary and financial institution robbery.

According to police, Jessica Plushkis was caught after she tried to flee the scene in a vehicle.

Police and the FBI are investigating if this robbery is connected with the several other TCF Bank robberies in the area.
