The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed after two cars crashed in Wauconda Township late Sunday evening.

The Wauconda Fire District and Lake County Sheriff’s Office was called at 11 p.m. to Route 120 and Fisher Road in Wauconda Township for a report of a car crash with injuries and entrapment.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said that a Ford Taurus was traveling eastbound on Route 120 in the area of Fisher Road. The driver of the Ford lost control and the vehicle slid sideways into the westbound lanes of traffic.

The Ford was struck on the passenger-side by a westbound Nissan Rogue, sheriff’s officials said.

Authorities said the driver of the Ford was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, a 58-year-old female from McHenry, was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office identified the driver of the Ford as Alan M. Bern, 33, of Lakemoor. An autopsy conducted on Bern on Tuesday by the Lake County Coroner’s Office confirmed he died of traumatic injuries from the crash. Toxicology results are pending.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit. Lake County Sheriff’s Crash Investigators were assisted by the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team and Lakemoor Police.
