The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified the 55-year-old Fox Lake man who died after he was struck by a car Tuesday morning in Fox Lake.
The Fox Lake Police Department and Fox Lake Fire Protection District was called at 7:44 a.m. to a report of a crash near Route 12 and Riverside Island Drive.
Police said that the crash involved a Saturn passenger car, driven by a 46-year-old female, and a bicyclist, driven by a 55-year-old male. Authorities said that the Saturn was traveling southbound on Route 12 and the bicyclist was traveling in the center median of the roadway when he was struck by the Saturn.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police officials said that no one else was injured.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office said on Thursday that the 55-year-old man was Fox Lake resident Kevin McKenzie. An autopsy confirmed he died from multiple traumatic injuries due to the crash. Toxicology results are pending.
The crash remains under investigation by the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County.
