A woman was sent to the hospital following a barricade standoff in Johnsburg after she threatened to shoot herself.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office was called at 8:15 a.m. on Monday to the 2000 block of Grandview Drive in Johnsburg for a wellness check.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sandra Rogers told the Northwest Herald that a 27-year-old woman was the only person in the house when sheriff’s deputies arrived.

Deputy Sandra Rogers also said that deputies were able to have a conversation with the woman through a closed door but she refused to open it.

Deputy Sandra Rogers said that the woman threatened to harm herself with a firearm and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team was then called.

Following a several hour standoff, the situation was resolved and the woman was transported to Centegra Hospital – Woodstock. No one was injured in the standoff.

Sheriff’s officials said they did not find a firearm in the home or on the woman.
