Waukegan police are investigating after a body was found in a pool behind a home where a fire happened last month.
The Waukegan Police Department began the death investigation early Monday morning behind a house at 1327 North Jackson Street. The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene at 2:30 a.m.
“The decedent has not been identified at this time and an autopsy will be scheduled,” Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper said.
Dr. Cooper confirmed to the Lake County News-Sun that there was a body found in the pool behind the house but it has not yet been identified.
“This investigation is open and active. No other information will be released at this time,” Waukegan Police Chief Wayne Walles said.
This house is the same one where a fire happened on December 4. Firefighters rescued a young woman; however, she later died at the hospital.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Waukegan Police Department at 847-360-9001.
