A Marengo man and Hebron woman were killed in a car crash in Hebron Sunday afternoon, the McHenry County Coroner’s Office said.
Emergency crews were called at 4:20 p.m. to a report of a head-on two-vehicle crash with injuries on Route 47 south of O’Brien Road in Hebron.
On Monday, the McHenry County Coroner’s Office said that Jose Rodriguez, 42, of Marengo, was driving southbound and Falynn M. Hironimus, 29, of Hebron, was driving northbound.
Hironimus, who was driving a 2009 Kia Rio, crossed into the southbound lane of traffic for unknown reasons and crashed head-on into a 2005 Chevy Impala, driven by Rodriguez.
Rodriguez and Hironimus were both pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said that there were three other people in the 2005 Chevy Impala which included a 9-year-old girl, 12-year-old girl and a 39-year-old woman.
The 39-year-old woman and the 12-year-old girl were transported to the hospital in critical condition. The 9-year-old girl was transported to the hospital in stable condition, sheriff’s officials said.
Route 47 was shutdown for several hours on Sunday due to the crash. Autopsies will be performed on Hironimus and Rodriguez on Tuesday.
The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
