Christian Lopez, 29, of Chicago

Police said that a home burglar linked to burglaries throughout the Chicagoland was arrested on Sunday in Lake Forest.

A Lake Forest police officer on patrol at 6 p.m. in the 100 block of Quail Drive saw a suspicious minivan parked with a man wearing sunglasses sitting inside it.

“Due to the recent string of residential burglaries in Lake Forest and neighboring communities, the officer approached the man and initiated a conversation,” the Lake Forest Police Department said.

Police officials said that while the officer was talking to the man a resident from a nearby home approached the officer. The resident said that they had just returned home and found someone had forced entry through a back door and burglarized their home.

Additional police officers and detectives were called to the scene. During the investigation, a large amount of stolen property was found inside the minivan, which linked the man to burglaries in Lake Forest, Highland Park, Skokie and DuPage County, authorities said.
