An Algonquin dentist was arrested after police said he sexually assaulted a woman at Water Tower Family Dental earlier this month.
Eman A. Shirazi, 42, of Lakewood, was arrested at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday at Water Tower Family Dental, 1496 Merchant Drive in Algonquin, and charged with criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual abuse and unlawful restraint.
Authorities said that the victim had a professional relationship with Shirazi and the dental practice but did not work at the business. Police said the sexual assault was “an isolated incident” at the business that occurred on January 11. Police also said that there have been no other reports of similar situations besides this one.
Officials would not release any further details about the incident. Shirazi is a general dentist and orthodontist at the dentist office, according to the business’s website.
The incident is still under investigation by the Algonquin Police Department. Shirazi is being held at the McHenry County Jail while he awaits a bond hearing.
