The Gurnee Police Department is searching for multiple suspects involved in an armed home invasion Tuesday night that left one person with a minor injury.
Police responded to the 1600 block of Belle Plaine Avenue in Gurnee around 11 p.m. Tuesday evening for a report of a home invasion. The home is in a neighborhood on the west side of Green Bay Road between Sunset Avenue and Grand Avenue.
Authorities said that three male black suspects wearing black hoodies forced entry through the locked front door of the home. Four family members were inside the house at the time, the Lake County News-Sun reported.
One of the family members suffered a minor injury after jumping up and cutting her leg on a piece of furniture when the suspects burst through the door, the News-Sun reported.
During the home invasion the suspects took around $300. Gurnee Police Department Deputy Chief Brian Smith told the News-Sun that the incident “appears to be isolated” and that “we don’t think there is a threat to the community.”
A handgun was displayed during the home invasion. The incident is still under investigation and police are searching for the suspects.
