Additional charges have been filed against the 96-year-old Lake Bluff man who allegedly sexually assaulted two children under the age of 13.

Robert E. Bruce, 96, of 441 Park Lane in Lake Bluff, was initially charged with two counts of predatory sexual assault of a child in October and now on January 10 he was charged with three more counts of predatory sexual assault of a child.

Lake Bluff Police Chief David Belmonte said that Bruce was charged following an investigation by the Lake Bluff Police Department and Lake County Children’s Advocacy Center.

The investigation revealed that Bruce allegedly “engaged in sexual conduct” with a girl under the age of 13 at his Lake Bluff home. The parents of the victim were staying as guests at Bruce’s home for his 96th birthday when the incident allegedly occurred, authorities said.

Family members of the child notified the police department of the alleged molestation, which was reported to have occurred in early October, police said.

Officials said that the additional charges came after a second victim under the age of 13 was discovered. The alleged sexual assault of the second victim took place between April 2014 and April 2015, according to Daily North Shore.

An arrest warrant was issued for Bruce after the initial charges were filed. He turned himself in to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office on October 11 and has since been released on a $100,000 bond after posting $10,000.

A jury trial is scheduled for April 2 at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.
