Dakota R. Koch, 23, of Round Lake

A Round Lake man was arrested after a burglary victim spotted him at a restaurant wearing his own shoes that were stolen in Lake Villa, sheriff’s officials said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said that a residential burglary happened in the 38300 block of North Fairfield Road in Lake Villa Township on Sunday. Officials said that entry was forced to a window of the home and a .40 caliber firearm, electronics, clothing and other items were stolen.

On Thursday the victim of the burglary was at a restaurant in Round Lake Beach when he saw a man wearing a pair of his shoes that were stolen during the burglary. Police said the victim knew the shoes were his because the shoes had unique markings.

The victim called police who responded to the scene and arrested Dakota R. Koch, 23, of the 0-100 block of North High Point Road in Round Lake. Round Lake Beach police then notified the Lake County Sheriff’s Office who transported Koch to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
