A 14-year-old Barrington High School student was killed on Sunday following a crash involving an SUV and a car in South Barrington.

Cassandra Meadors, 14, of Barrington, was identified on Monday by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as the victim killed in the crash.

Police said that Meadors was a passenger in a 2009 Volvo S60 driven by 27-year-old Dana Cibulka of Chicago.

The Volvo was driving northbound on Route 59 north of Penny Road at 3:10 p.m. when she lost control and crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic. A southbound 2006 BMW X5 then struck the passenger side of the Volvo.

Meadors was transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates where she was pronounced dead at 3:24 p.m., authorities said. An autopsy conducted on Monday found she died of multiple injuries from the crash.

Police said that the driver of the BMW, Carol Saldek, 56, of Crystal Lake, and the driver of the Volvo were taken to St. Alexius Medical Center for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation by police.
