Police announced on Friday that an additional $15,000 reward is being offered for information that helps solve a murder which happened over a year ago in Winthrop Harbor.
At around 8:30 p.m. on January 6, 2017, 46-year-old Winthrop Harbor resident Jeffery LaLond was murdered in the garage of his parent’s Winthrop Harbor home.
“LaLond was reportedly alone just prior to being killed at this home located on a quiet cul-de-sac on an unusually cold January evening,” Winthrop Harbor police said.
The Winthrop Harbor Police Department said it has established a homicide task force to solve the murder. They are asking for the public’s help in solving the case.
On Friday, police announced an additional $15,000 reward to the original $1,000 reward offered by Lake County Crime Stoppers for information leading to a conviction in the case. Some of the reward money is being funded privately by “concerned supporters of Winthrop Harbor,” police said.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Winthrop Harbor Police Department’s Homicide Task Force Tip-Line at 847-872-2131 ext. 2222.
