A former Lake in the Hills deputy police chief was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison for raping a 16-year-old girl in 2015.

Retired Lake in the Hills deputy police chief Alan Bokowski, 61, of the 1300 block of Dolo Rosa Vista in Crystal Lake, was sentenced on Wednesday, the Northwest Herald reported.

Bokowski was charged in 2016 on criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse charges. He also faced gun charges which have been dismissed as part of his plea deal.

Police began investigating after the parents of the 16-year-old girl told authorities that the girl was sexually assaulted at Bokowski’s home in 2015. Bokowski was also accused of inappropriately touching a woman in 2015.

The Northwest Herald said that police have a recording of Bokowski admitting to having sexual contact with the 16-year-old girl.

Bokowski was friends with the victim’s family for over 20 years, the victim’s stepmother said in court.

On Wednesday, Bokowski pleaded guilty to criminal sexual assault of a victim between the age of 13 to 17 years old. The gun charges and aggravated criminal sexual abuse charge were dropped as part of the deal.

Bokowski is required to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence, according to the Truth in Sentencing guidelines. After three years of parole he will be required to register as a sex offender.
