A 51-year-old Antioch man is in critical condition after being ejected from a 1962 Chevrolet Corvette during a crash in Antioch Saturday evening.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Antioch Fire Department were called at 8:04 p.m. Saturday to Grass Lake Road west of Bluff Lake Road in unincorporated Antioch for a single-vehicle crash with injuries. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found one vehicle with extensive damage.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said that a 1962 Chevrolet Corvette, driven by a 51-year-old man from Antioch, was driving westbound on Grass Lake Road when the vehicle left the roadway near the curve and came to a rest in the ditch.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, sheriff’s officials said. He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit. Authorities did not say what caused the driver to leave the roadway and crash.
