A man is in custody after a fatal stabbing that left three injured and one dead in Waukegan Saturday morning.
Police were called to La Canoa Restaurant, 50 South Green Bay Road in Waukegan, at 2 a.m. for a report of a large fight in the parking lot.
Police officers arrived and found four people who were stabbed during the fight. All four of the victims were described as males in their 20s from the Lake County area. They were transported by ambulances to area hospitals.
One of the victims later died during emergency surgery as a result of his injuries, police said. Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper said that the victim was identified as Oscar R. Castaneda, 24, of Waukegan. A preliminary autopsy confirmed he died from extensive blood loss as a result of the stab wounds.
A witness helped police identify the suspect. Jonathon Celis, 23, of Waukegan, was later arrested and charged with first-degree murder and DUI, along with other charges.
He is being held on a $2 million bond in the Lake County Jail. Celis is scheduled to appear in court next on March 1.
