A 62-year-old Volo man was killed after he crashed his motorcycle into a guardrail in Fox Lake Tuesday evening.

Emergency crews responded at 6:15 p.m. to the Route 12 Frontage Road near Big Hollow Road.

Police said that a 62-year-old Volo man was driving a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on the Route 12 Frontage Road approaching the curve near Big Hollow Road. The motorcycle crossed the roadway, striking the guardrail and ejecting the man off the motorcycle.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called to assist the Fox Lake Police Department with the investigation.

Big Hollow Road west of Route 12 and the Frontage Road was closed for three hours following the crash.

The identity of the man killed is being withheld while notification is made to his family. Police are asking for witnesses who have any information to call the Fox Lake Police Department at 847-587-3100.
