A 13-year-old student has been charged after making threats of violence against Northwood Middle School in Woodstock, sheriff’s officials said.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office began investigating on February 22 after a 13-year-old student, whose name is being withheld because the teen is under 18, made “threats of violence toward the school,” the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities said the 13-year-old, who is from Wonder Lake, made the threats while at a bus stop on February 21 in unincorporated Wonder Lake. The teen was arrested and charged with a class 4 felony of disorderly conduct.
The juvenile is currently being held in the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office has not released any additional details about the incident.
