A 22-year-old man from McHenry was arrested on Friday and charged with possessing child pornography, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said.

Jacob D. Fredericks, 22, of McHenry, was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography, a class 2 felony.

An investigation began after the Round Lake Police Department received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Round Lake police discovered the incident happened in McHenry County and the investigation was transferred to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

On March 2, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois Attorney General’s Office executed a search warrant at a house in the 5200 block of Pistakee Drive in unincorporated McHenry. Fredericks was later arrested and transported to the McHenry County Jail. His bond was set at $50,000. He has since bailed out of jail after posting the required $5,000.

“Any day we can remove from the community someone who uses or distributes child pornography I consider that a very good day,” said McHenry County Sheriff Bill Prim.

“What’s more, every arrest is a warning to other users that they will be found, arrested and prosecuted,” he added.
