Fire officials are investigating after a fire broke out at Kimmie Rose’s Kitchen in Winthrop Harbor Tuesday evening.

The Winthrop Harbor Fire Department was called just after 7 p.m. to a report of a fire at Kimmie Rose’s Kitchen, 1211 Sheridan Road, which is located in a strip mall with other businesses.

Fire crews were at the scene in three minutes and found heavy smoke from the front and rear of the business. Officials said that an aggressive fire attack was made and the fire was contained quickly.

Fire damage was limited to about thirty percent of the building which included a portion of the roof directly above the business, fire officials said. The rest of the restaurant suffered heat and smoke damage. The adjoining businesses only suffered minor smoke damage.

No one was in the restaurant at the time of the fire and no civilians or firefighters were hurt. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.

Northbound Sheridan Road and eastbound 12th Street were closed during the fire, The Winthrop Harbor Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Zion, Beach Park, Newport and Pleasant Prairie fire departments.
