An 87-year-old Beach Park man has been arrested after police said he sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl.
Edmundo Aboytes, 87, of the 9900 block of Oak Forest Avenue in Beach Park, was arrested on Thursday and charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.
Lake County Sheriff’s deputies were called on Wednesday to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for a report of a child who was sexually assaulted. The victim, who is 5 years old, reported to her mother that Aboytes had “inappropriate sexual contact with her,” the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said.
An investigation was launched by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Lake County Children’s Advocacy Center.
Aboytes admitted to detectives that he had “inappropriate sexual contact” with the 5-year-old girl, officials said.
Aboytes appeared in bond court Saturday morning where his bond was set at $1 million. He is scheduled to appear in court again on April 11.
