The Cary Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding the driver who hit a 72-year-old woman in a grocery store parking lot over the weekend and then fled the scene.

Emergency crews responded at 4 p.m. on Saturday to the parking lot of Jewel-Osco, 696 Northwest Highway in Cary. Police said that a woman driving a gold Jeep SUV struck a 72-year-old woman in the parking lot and then fled the scene several minutes later before police arrived.

The 72-year-old woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. The incident remains under investigation by the Cary Police Department.
