The Zion Police Department announced on Tuesday that they arrested a Kenosha man in connection with the fatal hit-and-run on Green Bay Road in October 2017.
Dennis C. Russell Jr., 34, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, was charged with failure to report an accident involving death and failure to report an accident involving personal injury, both felonies.
At 1 a.m. on October 21, 2017, a car struck two pedestrians near Green Bay Road and 9th Street in Zion. Officials said that the crash happened south of 9th Street on Green Bay Road near the Stonebridge development.
When authorities arrived they found two pedestrians who had been hit by a car. One of the pedestrians,ย Randall Lee Harrison, 19, of Kenosha, was killed and another man was injured.
Police identified the car as a silver or grey Chrysler Sebring convertible with front-end damage. The driver, a male white, pulled off near Green Bay Road and Route 173, put the top up to the car, and removed evidence of the crime from his vehicle before fleeing, police said.
On October 30, police announced that they found the suspect’s vehicle but had not yet found the driver. A warrant was issued for Russell Jr. and he was taken into custody on Tuesday at his residence on 75th Street in Kenosha.
He is currently being held in the Kenosha County Jail pending extradition to Lake County.
