Two people were injured and one person died after a crash involving three vehicles in Round Lake Park Sunday evening.

Emergency crews were called at 9:10 p.m. to a report of a vehicle crash with entrapment at Hainesville Road and Maple Avenue in Round Lake Park.

Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said that two vehicles were driving southbound on Hainesville Road when they crashed causing both of them to go off the roadway. Three people were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. One of the victims was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

A third vehicle was involved and had minor damage. The driver of that car was not injured.

Chief Filenko said that witnesses who heard the impact of the crash said it “sounded like a bomb had exploded.” Police did not say how the crash was caused.
