A man wearing dark clothing and walking in the roadway was struck and killed by a pickup truck Sunday evening in Beach Park, sheriff’s officials said.

The Lake County Sheriffโ€™s Office and Beach Park Fire Department was called at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday to a report of a truck that struck a pedestrian on Lewis Avenue near Richard Place in Beach Park.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Sara Balmes said that a blue 2007 Toyota Tacoma was traveling northbound Lewis Avenue in the right lane. A man wearing dark clothing was walking in the northbound lane of the roadway, Sgt. Balmes said. The truck struck the man, who was later identified asย Novotise A. Robinson, 45, of Zion.

Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday afternoon by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

No tickets have been issued and no charges have been filed. The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriffโ€™s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
