A 72-year-old man who was found shot in his Fox Lake home died after being transported to the hospital Sunday afternoon, police said.
Police were called to a home in the 100 block of Eagle Point Road in Fox Lake at 2:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of a gunshot victim. Fox Lake police officers arrived and found the owner of the home, a 72 year-old man, with a gunshot wound, Lake County Major Crimes Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli said.
The man was transported to Centegra Hospital in McHenry where he was pronounced dead, Covelli added.
The Fox Lake Police Department requested the assistance of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force. The shooting remains under investigation by the Fox Lake Police Department and Lake County Major Crimes Task Force.
Police said that there is no threat to the community and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
