The McHenry County Coroner has identified a 72-year-old Fox Lake man who died after being found shot in his Fox Lake home Sunday afternoon.
Police were called to a home in the 100 block of Eagle Point Road in Fox Lake at 2:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of a gunshot victim. Fox Lake police officers arrived and found the owner of the home, a 72-year-old man, with a gunshot wound, Lake County Major Crimes Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli said.
The man was transported to Centegra Hospital in McHenry where he was pronounced dead, Covelli added.
On Monday, McHenry County Coroner Anne L. Majewski said that the 72-year-old man was identified as Raymond F. Bellucci. An autopsy revealed that he died from a gunshot wound to the head.
The Fox Lake Police requested the Lake County Major Crime Task Force to assist. The shooting remains under investigation by the Fox Lake Police Department and Lake County Major Crimes Task Force.
Police said that there is no threat to the community but have not yet released additional information on the circumstances of the shooting.
