Mark A. Jones, 26, of Waukegan

A Waukegan man wanted for escape and failure to appear in court on robbery charges was captured on Monday, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals arrested Mark A. Jones, 26, of 15 South Martin Luther King Jr Avenue in Waukegan, on Monday. Jones was wanted on a felony warrant for escape and also a felony warrant for failure to appear in court on robbery charges.

Police said the robbery charge was for a street robbery that happened near 9th Street and Victory Street in Waukegan last August.

The warrants were obtained by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office after Jones left the Community Based Corrections Center of the Lake County Jail and never returned on February 7, Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Sara Balmes said.

Jones was located at an apartment in the 700 block of North Lewis Avenue in Waukegan after police saw him walking to a grocery store. He was arrested as he exited the grocery store and was transported to the Lake County Jail.
