A bicyclist is dead after being struck by a pickup truck in Barrington Hills, and police are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver who fled the scene.

The Barrington Hills Police Department said that emergency crews were called around 9:45 p.m. Friday evening to Route 59 and Route 68. Police said that a bicyclist was riding on Route 59 south of Route 68 when he was struck by a vehicle.

The bicyclist, a 28-year-old Schiller Park man, was found unresponsive and had been thrown several feet from his bicycle. The bicycle was lying on the shoulder of the road and badly damaged.

Authorities believe the driver who fled the scene could have been driving either a dark-colored 2010 Toyota Sequoia SUV or a 2007 or newer Toyota Tundra pickup truck with front-end damage.

The incident remains under investigation by the Barrington Hills Police Department, Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
