No one was injured following a shooting in the Woodstock Square Sunday afternoon, police said.
Woodstock police were called at 1 p.m. Sunday to a report of shots fired in the area of Beck and Beck Insurance Center, 113 East Van Buren Street, in the Woodstock Square.
Police found a juvenile suspect and took him into custody. Authorities said that the incident appears to be the result of a “negligent discharge of a firearm,” but the shooting is still being actively investigated.
Charges are pending against the juvenile, whose identity is being withheld because they are under 18, officials said. “This incident is contained and no continuous danger to the public is believed to exist at this time,” the Woodstock Police Department said.
Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Woodstock Police Department at 815-338-2131.
