Authorities are investigating after a 69-year-old Harvard man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Harvard Thursday evening.
The Harvard Police Department and Harvard Fire/Rescue was called at 9:41 p.m. to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at Division Street and Front Street.
The McHenry County Coroner’s Office said that emergency crews found Ronald L. Jacobs Sr., 69, of Harvard, struck by a vehicle. Jacobs was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:11 p.m.
The Harvard Police Department said that Jacobs was in the roadway when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. An autopsy performed on Jacobs on Friday showed that he died from blunt trauma to the chest, McHenry County Coroner Dr. Anne Majewski said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Harvard Police Department, McHenry County Sheriff’s Department Accident Investigation Unit and McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
