A tip about marijuana being delivered to a Zion house led police to arrest a Zion man after 11 pounds of marijuana was found at his home.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force received a tip on May 15 about a man who lived in Zion who was receiving “large quantities of cannabis via a package delivery service,” Lake County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Christopher Covelli said.
Police went to the home, which is in the 3000 block of Emmaus Avenue in Zion, where they met with 21-year-old homeowner Juan C. Martinez-Cervantes. They spoke with him about the tip and after speaking with him detectives found over 5,100 grams of marijuana inside the residence, Covelli added.
Martinez-Cervantes was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of cannabis, both felonies.
The man remains held in the Lake County Jail on a $75,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court next on June 13.
