A 62-year-old Mount Prospect woman was killed following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in North Barrington Monday morning, officials said.
Emergency crews were called at 11:57 a.m. Monday to a report of a motorcycle crash with injuries near the area of Miller Road and Oak Hill Road in North Barrington.
Lake County Sheriff’s spokesman Christopher Covelli said that a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by a 62-year-old man from Mount Prospect, was traveling westbound on Miller Road. The motorcycle was approaching the curve in the roadway just east of Oak Hill Road when the driver lost control and struck the curb, Covelli added.
Both the driver and his passenger, a 62-year-old woman also from Mount Prospect, were ejected from the motorcycle. The woman was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries where she was later pronounced dead. The driver was treated and released from Advocate Condell Medical Center.
Police added that the man and woman were both wearing helmets at the time of the crash. An autopsy is being conducted by the Lake County Coronerโs Office and names of the victims are currently being withheld.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriffโs Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
