A 39-year-old Wisconsin man suffered serious injuries and had to be extricated from his pickup truck following a crash involving a dump truck in Round Lake Park Thursday afternoon.

The Grayslake Fire Department, Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District and Round Lake Park Police Department were called around noon for a report of a vehicle crash near Route 60 and Chardon Road.

Emergency crews found a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a semi-trailer end dump truck involved in the crash. The driver of the pickup truck was trapped and firefighters had to extricate the 39-year-old Twin Lakes, Wisconsin man, police said.

The 39-year-old man was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in serious condition, and the driver of the semi truck was not injured, officials added.

Police said that the driver of the pickup truck was driving westbound when it went into the eastbound lanes for an unknown reason. The pickup truck then struck the rear driver’s side of the semi truck, causing a small fuel leak.
