A woman was flown to a trauma center by a medical helicopter following a three-vehicle crash Wednesday in Wonder Lake.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office was called at 4:24 p.m. to a report of a vehicle crash with injuries on Route 120 west of East Wonder Lake Road in Wonder Lake on Wednesday.
Emergency crews arrived and found a 2004 Audi A4, 2013 Ford Edge and 2010 Dodge Caravan taxi. Three people were injured including a 45-year-old Hanover Park woman who was driving the minivan taxi. The woman was seriously injured and trapped inside the vehicle.
Firefighters extricated the woman and she was then flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Officials also said that the driver of the Ford, a 55-year-old Wonder Lake man, suffered minor injuries. He was ground transported by ambulance to Centegra Hospital – McHenry. The driver of the Audi, a 30-year-old Wonder Lake man, refused medical treatment.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said that the Audi ran into the back of the Ford which caused the Ford to cross the center line of Route 120, striking the minivan taxi that was driving in the westbound lanes.
Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be a factor in the crash, police said.
