A weekend shooting in Zion left an 18-year-old woman seriously injured after police said a shooter or multiple shooters fired several rounds at people attending a party.
The Zion Police Department received multiple 911 calls just after midnight on Saturday reporting shots fired in the 2900 block of Ezra Avenue.
Police officers arrived and found an 18-year-old woman shot in the chest in the rear of a residence where the shots happened. They also found numerous juveniles and adults leaving the scene, where a party had taken place, officials said.
The Zion Police Department said that evidence showed that an unknown suspect or suspects fired several rounds at party-goers while they were standing in the back of the home. No one else was injured.
The woman was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries. Her current condition is unknown.
