Brett Beckett, 52, of Antioch, was identified Monday as the man killed by a hit-and-run driver in Antioch Saturday evening.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Antioch Fire Department was called at 9:30 p.m. Saturday to Grass Lake Road and Sunset Drive in unincorporated Antioch for a pedestrian who was struck by a car.

Emergency crews found a man, later identified as Beckett, on the shoulder of the road critically injured. The man was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was pronounced dead. The driver that struck Beckett fled the scene in either a Suzuki Vitara or Suzuki Sidekick before police arrived.

An autopsy performed on Monday showed that Beckett died from multiple traumatic injuries sustained from being hit by a vehicle. Toxicology results are pending.

Police added that Beckett was walking in the road when he was struck. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit continues to investigate the incident.

Anyone with information on the hit-and-run is asked to call the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at 847-549-5200 or Lake County CrimeStoppers at 847-662-2222. The sheriff’s office is also asking area body and repair shops to report any suspicious damage or damage consistent with this crash.
