Thunderstorms brought flooding and road closures Tuesday afternoon to Lake County, especially in the Mundelein and Libertyville area.
The National Weather Service issued a flood warning Tuesday evening for McHenry County and Lake County after heavy rain fell across the Chicagoland.
The hardest hit areas were Mundelein, Libertyville, parts of Grayslake, parts of Gurnee, Fox River Grove, Lake Barrington and Cary, which all recorded two inches of rain or more.
“Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles,” the National Weather Services said in a warning.
Thunderstorms are likely to continue until midnight for most parts of Lake County and McHenry County.
