Jogger seriously injured after being struck by car in unincorporated Mundelein

The crash occurred in a neighborhood near Indian Creek Road and Diamond Lake Road in unincorporated Mundelein.

A jogger who was struck by a BMW sedan Thursday morning in unincorporated Mundelein suffered serious injuries, according to police.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was called at 7:35 a.m. Thursday to a call of a pedestrian struck by a car at Eagle Drive and West Arrowhead Drive in unincorporated Mundelein.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that a 61-year-old woman from Fox Lake was driving her 2011 BMW sedan northbound on Eagle Drive. A 70-year-old woman who lives nearby was jogging on the east side of the roadway.

The BMW struck the jogger just north of the intersection. The jogger was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center with serious injuries.

The cause of the crash is unknown but police say the driver is cooperating with authorities. The incident remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
