Kyle J. Morgan, 18, of Huntley

An 18-year-old Huntley man was charged after police said that he tried to meet up with a 13-year-old girl for a sexual encounter, the Northwest Herald reported.

Kyle J. Morgan, 18, of the 9900 block of Chetwood Drive in Huntley, was charged with traveling to meet a minor, a class 3 felony, and grooming, a class 4 felony, court records show.

Police were called Saturday evening after the parents of a 13-year-old girl reported that an 18-year-old man, later identified as Morgan, was trying to meet up with the young girl for a “sexual encounter.”

The Northwest Herald reported that Morgan talked to the girl on Snapchat, a photo sharing social media app. Police were able to arrange a meet up with Morgan, who thought he would be meeting with the 13-year-old girl.

Instead, Morgan ended up meeting with police officers and was arrested around 10:15 p.m. at Ol’ Timers Park in Huntley, the Herald reported. Morgan has since been released on bail from the McHenry County Jail.
