A young girl is in stable condition after bystanders found her unresponsive in the water at the Three Oaks Recreation Area beach in Crystal Lake Tuesday afternoon.

Crystal Lake Police Department Deputy Chief Tom Kotlowski said that police and fire crews were called at 12:51 p.m. Tuesday to Three Oaks Recreation Area, 5517 Northwest Highway in Crystal Lake.

A 911 caller reported that a young girl was found unresponsive face down in the water. Deputy Chief Kotlowski said that witnesses and lifeguards helped remove the girl from the water and began CPR.

Paramedics arrived and began providing “advanced life support treatment” to the girl, police said. She was transported by ambulance, with her family present, to Centegra Hospital – Huntley where she was then flown to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in stable condition.

The Crystal Lake Police Department Investigations Unit remains at the scene gathering information about the incident.
