No one was injured after a fire broke out Thursday evening at a tanning salon in McHenry which left the building uninhabitable.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District and the McHenry Police Department was called at 9:11 p.m. Thursday to EZ Tan, 4507 West Elm Street in McHenry, for a report of a structure fire.

Firefighters arrived and saw smoke showing from the roof and soffits of the building. The fire was located and put out in five minutes after firefighters made entry to the building.

No one was inside the building at the time of the fire.

“Thank you for everyone’s concern. No one was injured. Just lots of inside damage. We will be closed for several days,” EZ Tan posted on Facebook.

Fire crews remained at the scene for almost an hour ventilating the smoke. No damage estimate was available and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
