A “one of a kind” father, who was a single parent raising two boys, died last month in a motorcycle crash in Antioch. Now, a benefit event is set to take place on Sunday to help raise money for his children.

Lake Villa resident Ian Wilson was riding his 1999 Honda motorcycle near Grass Lake Road and Kathryn Drive in Antioch on July 13.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said that Wilson was driving eastbound on Grass Lake Road when he drove his motorcycle off the road into a tree for an unknown reason. Wilson was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Wilson was the owner of Wilson’s Auto Repair in Ingleside. He was a single father raising two boys, 16-year-old Christian and 10-year-old Nicholas. A GoFundMe account was started to help cover expenses related to Wilson’s death.

So far the GoFundMe account has raised $1,700. “We could use as much support as possible during this trying time. All of your help is greatly appreciated,” Susan Wilson said.

“Fly the “W” Benefit” is set for Sunday at Blarney Island in Antioch to help raise money.

A “Fly the “W” Benefit” is scheduled to take place on Sunday from 12-6 p.m. at Blarney Island, 27843 West Grass Lake Road in Antioch.

“Let’s come together to not only honor Ian with great memories (and his love for the Cubs), but to bring a community together to raise money for his boys. It will be a great day of music, people, prizes and love,” the event flyer said.

The public is encouraged to attend the event to help raise money for his boys.
