A 33-year-old North Chicago man died after being shot in Zion early Wednesday morning, police said.
Zion Police were called to the 2500 block of Hebron Avenue around 12:10 a.m. on Wednesday for a shooting, according to Zion Police Chief Stephen Dumyahn.
Dumyahn said that police officers found the man, who has not yet been publicly identified, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by the Zion Fire Department to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary reports were that the man was shot in his chest and head. The shooter reportedly fled the scene on foot.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Wednesday.
