An explosion, gas leak and fire was reported at a townhouse in Huntley’s Sun City Community Tuesday morning, fire officials reported.

The Huntley Fire Protection District was called to the 13400 block of Michigan Avenue in Huntley for a report of a townhouse fire. The home is in the Del Webb Sun City Community, which is where residents 55 and older live.

Firefighters found heavy flames and smoke showing from the townhouse just after 11 a.m. Tuesday. No one was inside the home at the time of the fire.

Two firefighters were reportedly transported to the hospital from the fire scene in unknown condition.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. An active gas leak was reported at the scene and ComEd and NICOR Gas were called.

Fire investigators have not yet released further details or a damage estimate.
