The death of a 5-month-old boy last month in North Chicago is under investigation by the Department of Family and Children Services.

Police and paramedics were called on August 22 to a home in the 1500 block of Kristian Avenue in North Chicago for a report of a 5-month-old boy found unresponsive.

The Illinois Department of Family and Children Services (DCFS) said that an investigation is underway for possible abuse and neglect. North Chicago Police are also investigating but have not released any further information.

The boy died seven days later on August 29. A cause of death has not been made pending further investigation by authorities.

No further information has been released by police or DCFS.
