Police and school officials in Waukegan are warning students and parents after two students at separate schools were followed by a suspicious vehicle.
The first incident occurred at Washington Street and Keller Avenue, which is near Washington Elementary School and Waukegan High School Brookside Campus.
The second incident occurred at New York Avenue and Grand Avenue, which is near Daniel Webster Middle School and Whittier Elementary School.
In both incidents, school officials said that a student was followed closely by a suspicious vehicle as they walked to or from school. Waukegan District 60 officials said that the offender never got out of the vehicle and the students were able to safely get home or to school.
School officials notified the Waukegan Police Department with descriptions of the suspects and vehicles. Both incidents are not believed to be related.
“We are sharing this information to remind parents and students to be remain conscious of their surroundings when traveling to or from school,” Waukegan School District 60 officials said.
“Students are also urged to report any situations they may encounter at school, as well on their way to and from school, which they consider to be suspicious, or unsafe.”
