A Round Lake Park police officer saved a 45-year-old man Saturday evening after he overdosed on a combination of heroin and alcohol.
The Round Lake Park Police Department and Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District were called at 4:25 p.m. Saturday to the 500 block of Grandview Drive in Round Lake Park.
Police found a 45-year-old man not breathing after overdosing. The police officer administered Naloxone, which reverses the effects of narcotic drugs, and the man regained consciousness.
Paramedics transported the man to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in unknown condition.
“This isn’t the first time we’ve responded to this residence for the same type of incident. ‘Epidemic’ has become a popular political catch phrase in the past few years. On the street level it’s reality at its worst,” Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said.
